Mistfruit

Borne only by the vines of Mistfruit Vine, which climb the dead stumps of fallen mistwood trees at the fog-drowned edges of the isles, this pale sage-green fruit is wrapped in a skin of overlapping scales, like petals closed against the cold.

Split open, its flesh is white, custard-soft, and improbably fragrant, with a coolness on the tongue that lingers like morning fog. Foragers who have eaten one fresh from the vine tend to measure every other fruit against it — unfairly, and forever.
