Description
Purple quartz out of deeper veins than the clear kind, and far less predictable. A crystal that looks solid violet in the rock often washes out pale once it has been cleaned.
The color runs uneven through most specimens, so cutters work slowly and expect to lose a fair share of every stone they start.
