Raw Sapphire

Blue crystal from the high peaks, hard enough to scratch nearly anything else that comes out of a mine. The color runs from a washed-out sky blue to something close to black.

That hardness is as much the problem as the prize. A sapphire takes a cut only from someone with the tools and the patience for it.
