Raw Quartz

Clear hexagonal crystal, found in veins and geodes almost anywhere stone and water have been working on each other. Common enough that nobody digs for it on purpose; it turns up alongside whatever else the seam was worth.

It is the stone jewelcrafters learn on, for the same reason: ruining one costs nothing.
