Moonthistle

Moonthistle

A silvery thistle whose down glows faintly at night.

Description

Moonthistle grows on the wind-scoured heights of the upper isles, its spined heads breaking in season into a silver down that catches the moonlight and holds a faint glow of its own. The down lifts free at a touch, drifting like sparks —Moonthistle FibersMoonthistle Fibers — for the forager quick enough to catch it.

It is a fiber of the high, lonely places, rarer than silk and stranger, carrying a cold shimmer that no dye has ever managed to imitate.
