Tin Ore

Pale silvery ore, soft and low-melting, easy to work and close to useless on its own. A tin blade bends before it cuts.

Its value is entirely in what it does for other metals. Alloyed with copper it makes bronze, which is harder than either metal alone, and that discovery is old enough that nobody remembers who made it.
